In Northern Ethiopia lies some of the oldest churches in the world. In September is the celebration of the Meskal festival, a religious holiday celebrating the origins of the True Cross. As the only African nation that has never been colonized by the British, Ethiopia’s Christian roots span back to the origins of the faith. Jesus once lived there. Moses had an Ethiopian wife. The first Christian convert was from this country and one of the three Wisemen bearing the gift of frankincense was from Ethiopia. This is a country steeped in Christian tradition.
